OCT
Make Studio is pleased to present the 4th installment of Cordially Invited, our invitational exhibition and events featuring art created in innovative U.S. and international studios that serve artists with disabilities. Cordially Invited celebrates the exciting and thought-provoking art produced in progressive art studios as a way to better understand and appreciate our neuro-diverse world. For this year’s Free Fall Baltimore, there will again be a hybrid in-person/online format including a feature exhibition in our gallery, a virtual exhibition, and both online and in-person events. Cordially Invited will be on view online beginning October 1st and in-person October 2nd. The physical exhibition closes October 30th. Cordially Invited 4 is a recognition of the diverse, beautiful, and thought-provoking art created by disabled artists/artists with disabilities, as well as the ongoing work of progressive studios to champion these artists even during turbulent times.

As we exit our annual August studio break and enter a busy fall season, and you and yours may be heading back to school and other busier times, we hope you’ll enjoy this glimpse into some of our artists’ appetites.
SAT 9/4 • 12:30-2:30PM
Stop by our parking pad and share a hot dog / not dog toast with our artists and other studio friends at our studio cookout! It will be your last chance to pop into the gallery and make a purchase before MAKE IT BACK (and its deep discounts) comes down.
JUL / AUG
The majority of Make Studio artists have finally made it BACK to working in-person at the studio, with more returning throughout the summer.
And our feelings about that are not small at all!
In recognition of our artists returning to the studio, we are having a large sale - our biggest one ever - anchored by a lighthearted gallery show that celebrates the artists’ activities, aspirations, and preoccupations while they worked from home and looked forward to being back together.
MAKE IT BACK Summer Exhibit & Sale launches with a soft opening during the 4th of July weekend in Make Studio's Showroom Gallery and remains open through the end of August. Visitors are welcome (masked if not vaccinated, please!) to look and shop between 10-4 on studio weekdays (Tu-Fr) and 11-2 on Saturdays.
APR 24 - MAY 29
Over the course of the past pandemic year, a spirited collaborative art-making effort emerged between MICA students (plus one faculty member) and Make Studio artists, with Amanda Tetso leading the charge! This group has been meeting regularly during SAT virtual studio sessions since last fall to show and discuss work, make artistic matches, and collaborate on pieces and environments. This show is the happy, seemingly effortless result! See the art and share in the energy, inspiration, and dialogue at one or all of the BIARTISAN events including the opening reception, which also caps off Autism Acceptance Month at Make Studio. All events are free and open to the public. Exhibition can be viewed in the gallery by appointment. APR 24 • 2-5PM: Opening Reception MAY 1 • 4:30-5:30PM: Zoom Artist Talk MAY 22 • 2-4PM: Closing Reception MAY 22 • 2:30-3:30PM: Zoom Workshop This workshop will begin with a brief tour of the digital exhibition, after which participants will have the opportunity to create a piece inspired by their favorite artist/work in the show, using materials as basic as paper and pencil/marker, underscoring the collaborative nature of the exhibition.
FEB 22-26
FEB 22 - MAR 26
After what can only be described as the strangest year in Make Studio's history, we're looking forward to soon easing back into in-person operations this spring! In the meantime, we’re celebrating a special time for us every year, our annual anniversary extravaganza! This year we're turning things up to 11! Recent times have proven more than ever that variety, in the right doses, is the spice of life, so instead of one party we're hosting a week of festivities online February 22nd – 27th, as well as a hybrid (online/gallery) show of new and notable pieces by Make Studio artists.
JAN 31 - MAR 12
Curated by Madeline Arbutus (Visual Art & Media and Communication Studies, UMBC 2022) the show is collaboration between Make Studio and OCA Mocha that features fourteen of Make Studio’s artists in celebration of Black History Month and the impact these Black artists make on the community all year round. Featured artists are: Nadine Baldwin, Greg Bannister, Erika Clark, Chuck Fischer, Jeremy Foster, Jules Hinmon, Seth Jackson, Zach Manuel, Louis Middleton, Iragi Nkere, Kareem Samuels, Tyrone Weedon, Jerry Williams, and D. Woody.

Make Studio’s 8th and final exhibition of this most unusual year, Onward, Upward!, conveys the shared sentiment of our studio community — to not ignore the sometimes painful realities of the present, or forget the lessons of the past, but to always persevere by moving ahead. It was originally conceptualized as a “then vs. now” comparison of the artistry of our member artists, whose relationships with Make Studio range in duration from 1 to 10+ years, and serves, belatedly in true pandemic-operations style, to formally bring our 10th anniversary celebration to a close.
