Damian is an acrylic and gauche painter, of Polish descent, who is inspired by the artists Cezanne and Gaugin. He was originally taught illustration by a Franciscan Friar at the age of twenty-one while living in St. Louis. Together they worked on the illustration for a science fiction novel Damian was writing at the time. Damian feels a kinship with amphibians and therefore is passionate about painting frogs and salamanders. He has also painted still-lives and other nature inspired artworks. In the past his artwork has been displayed at the Railyard here in Santa Fe. Now, his artwork adorns the walls of his community home at Casa Milagro.
Damian is currently working on a new project involving the use of ink dyes and acrylic paint to create starburst and floral designs on eggs. He is inspired by the intricate designs created by Ukrainian and Polish artists and appreciates the gem-like quality of the batik dyes on the eggs. His next plan is to start carving ostrich eggs with a Dremel tool. During his free time, Damian continues to work on his art projects and is currently in the process of writing a screen play. He says, "If you're interested in my egg art pieces please email coatamundi0@gmail.com."
