When set within the impressionist realm of Renoirs, Monets, and Sisleys, Make Studio artist Eddie Kil is an expressionist translator, borrowing some modernist vocabulary (think Picasso and Van Gogh) in the process. We are celebrating Eddie’s five-year-plus art practice at Make Studio with his first solo exhibition! Eddie enjoys interpreting such 19th century French paintings; at the beginning of each project, he often researches them on the internet or occasionally in a book. The color application is BOLD, occasionally delving into neon. The general softness of the originals is inverted by ultra clean delineations, aided by black paint marker, and the overall results brim with crisp, 21st century freshness.
