BROWN IS THE NEW BLACK

In honor of Louis Middleton's love of photography, Make Studio is hosting his first solo exhibition, Alternative Histories. Marking the show's kick-off is Brown is the New Black, a FREE workshop presented by Dayton, OH based photographer Francis Schanberger. Workshop participants will learn to make historical process Van Dyke Brown prints. Participants who pre-register will be invited to email digital images ahead, or can bring personal objects or found objects to create their prints. Attendees of all ages and abilities will leave with a successful, handmade print suitable for framing, and ideas for future applications of the technique. Immediately following the workshop, join us for the opening of Middleton's show, which focuses on his unconventional approaches to the photographic image, including digital collages and restorations of family photos.

BABY UNIVERSE (Matinee)
Studio Theatre (DC) has collaborated with us for their production of Baby Universe: A Puppet Odyssey, nonprofit company Wakka Wakka Productions' and Nordland Visual Theatre's “sophisticated puppet theater…that explores with wit, imagination, and insight serious issues of our times.” Our artists were asked to create works using Baby Universe as inspiration. There will be an artists' reception on June 30, before & after the matinee.
